He is also an expert in optics with more than 33 years experience. So when he could not find suitable sunglasses for himself and the buddies he fished with in the Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, his solution was simple - invent the perfect pair of sunglasses.
He knew he wanted key features:

Finally, a factory was found in Japan that was able to manufacture a lens to Kevin's demanding specifications. Prototypes were made and top professionals conducted extensive field tests.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a PD?
PD stands for pupilary distance, which is the distance between the pupils. We cannot complete any Rx without the PD.
Can I e-mail my prescription?
We need a Copy of original Rx with PD and doctor's signature (no more than 2 years old).
How recent should my prescription be?
Florida State Law prohibits us from accepting prescriptions from anyone other than a doctor, hand written without a doctor's signature, or prescriptions older than 2 years old.
When do I need to pay?
Payment is due before start date, there is no exchange or refund once the job has been processed. If you are not sure about the fit of a frame, we can give you the address of one of our retailer or you can be sent few frames to try them on.
How long?
It usually takes 10 business days.
Can any prescription go in any frame?
Ocean Waves lenses can not be put in any other frame than those offered by Ocean Waves. Some can not hold certain prescriptions.

Lifetime Warranty:
With the purchase of your Ocean Waves you receive a lifetime warranty against manufactures defects. We stand behind our product and take pride in the craftsmanship of our product. If your glasses break due to poor quality and/or craftsmanship we will replace the defective pieces and/or parts at no charge.
Ocean Waves sunglasses are very durable and resistant but not indestructible --high impact may pit, chip or scratch the lenses or break the frames. For this reason wear and tear is not covered. This warranty shall not apply to any damage caused by improper or unreasonable use of the product. To prevent unexpected damage, we recommend wearing a cord and storing your Ocean Waves in a protective case within a cool dry area when not in use.
What is not covered?
Manufactures Defects usually occur within the first few weeks. In all essence this is ”lemon insurance” within our product. It does not just stop after your first initial purchase it continues throughout a lifetime ensuring that any Ocean Waves product you purchase, whether new or repaired, will be made of the highest quality and craftsmanship. After receipt of your glasses our optical lab will inspect the glasses to determine warranty status.
Lenses that are scratched, pitted, cracked, shattered, or those that are damaged due to being dropped, sat or stepped on, or due to any reason other than a manufactures defect.
Frames that are bent, snapped, chewed on, or those that are damaged due to being dropped, sat or stepped on, or due to any reason other than a manufactures defect.
If your glasses are broken please do not try to fix them, send them into our factory. Any use of a self-fix remedy, such as gluing, heating, bending, or stretching will void the warranty.
There are no other express or implied warranties other than those set forth above.
If you have experienced a problem due to poor quality and/or craftsmanship please send your glasses to us so that we may inspect them and rectify the situation.

We take pride in providing exceptional service, we do not want you to just throw away your Ocean Waves when an accident happens, and we want you to be the proud owner of Ocean Waves for a lifetime. For this reason we have designed an unbeatable repair program that offers replacement pieces and/or parts at a nominal fee. If your glasses ever break due to reasons other than those covered under our warranty we will offer as a courtesy lenses, frames, and frame parts at a very low cost. See the below chart for a break down of the current repair charges. These charges are offered only to those customers who mail in a pair of existing Ocean Waves needing repair. Parts are only sold al la carte through this program.

The process
Once we receive your glasses we will inspect them to determine warranty status. If your glasses are covered under warranty we will fix the appropriate defective parts and return your glasses. If glasses are not covered under warranty we will contact you with your repair options and any charges that may apply.
Normal turn around time is approximately two weeks. Turn around time is dependant on payment, availability, and contact information. If you have read the above warranty information and feel your glasses will not be covered, please include the appropriate payment amount to reduce wait time. Also, be sure to include contact information, such as phone, email, and address so that we may reach you Monday thru Friday 9:00 – 5:00 EST if a problem does arise in the completion of your repair.
What if my style is no longer offered?
If your style has been discontinued we will offer to edge your lenses into styles that your existing lenses will fit. If your existing lenses are too small for the style you would like, you can purchase a set of new lenses at the repair cost and go into a frame of equal or lesser value at no additional cost. If the frame you would like is of greater value, you can upgrade by paying the retail difference of the style. This usually is a $10 -$30 upgrade fee.
